We hope to keep our school Covid-19 free and will need your help with this so we would like to make you aware of the following information:

If your child is displaying any Covid-19 symptoms do not send them to school, contact your GP and seek advice: symptoms are as follows: sore throat, headache, cough, nasal congestion (common with DELTA VARIANT), fever, cough, tiredness, shortness of breath, loss of smell or taste.

If your child is awaiting a Covid-19 test or the results of a test, do not send them to school.

If your child is a close contact of a confirmed case do not send them to school until advised that you may do so by the HSE. Please follow the HSE advice at all times and contact us if you have any queries or concerns.

Students who have travelled abroad are advised to consult and follow latest Government advice in relation to foreign travel. If you have any queries or concerns in relation to this, please do not hesitate to contact us at the college.

Ardgillan College’s Covid-19 Response Plan is available on our school website and we would ask all parents to familiarise themselves with it.

All students will be reminded of our Covid 19 procedures which remain in place for the coming academic year on their return to school. A PowerPoint will be shown to all classes reminding them of the procedures and practices in place in Ardgillan and how our school community can make our working environment as safe as possible for all members of our school community. Parents can keep up to date by clicking the Covid 19 tab on our website.

All members of our school community will be required to wear Face Masks at ALL times in the school.

A number of students may be unable to return to school due to specific high risk health conditions. Please contact the relevant Year Head in confidence if this applies to your child. Parents will be contacted immediately and should come and collect their child if they are suspected of having COVID-19 symptoms.

We will continue have an open-door and open-window policy throughout the school.

Unfortunately to comply with public heath advice, students will not have access to lockers this year.

Students should wear their full PE uniform to school on the days that PE is timetabled for their class.

If your child is absent or needs to leave school early for any reason please record this on the VSWare App.

Can we also remind you to ensure any outstanding payments on MIT are paid before your child returns to school. Please remember that it takes 48 hours for payments to be processed.

We look forward to welcoming our students back to Ardgillan and hope that there is a busy and fruitful year ahead for all members of our school community.

Yours sincerely,

Nuala Ní Mhurchú
